After a glittering Northern Rivers premiere, the bold new Australian musical A Midsummer Night’s Queen arrives in Sydney—and it’s bringing the party with it.
Inspired by Much Ado About Nothing, this electrifying new work spins the classic into a bold, queer celebration, set in the heart of a pulsing festival where love, identity and community collide. It’s a world of sequins, spectacle and sky-high wigs—where anything can happen, and often does.
With a soundtrack bursting with pop anthems inspired by Kylie Minogue, Madonna and ABBA, the show delivers powerhouse vocals, infectious energy and fierce choreography by Danielle Linegar that demands to be seen live. Under the dynamic direction of Kylie Fuad, the production moves seamlessly from euphoric highs to moments of raw emotional truth.
At its heart, A Midsummer Night’s Queen is a love letter to queer culture—past, present and future. It’s about the freedom to be yourself, the courage to stand tall, and the communities that lift us up when the world tries to pull us down. It’s camp, it’s fierce, it’s funny—and it might just break your heart before putting it back together again.
Created by Australian playwright and composer Michael Sharmon, and brought to life by a company of passionate LGBTQI+ artists and allies, this is a show driven by authenticity, connection and pure theatrical joy.
Whether you come for the spectacle, the music, or the message, one thing is certain—you’ll leave uplifted, energised, and ready to dance.
