“in Eldershaw once more, I scarcely felt the place was real”

SCRIPT IN-HAND PERFORMANCE: 9TH & 10TH MARCH.

THE PRODUCTION OF ELDERSHAW HAS BEEN RESCHEDULED FROM 27th SEP to 13th OCT.

There will be a staged reading of Eldershaw on March 9 & 10

Recovered from an old ottoman after her death, Helen’s journals chronicle her adolescence, marriage and life after. Set predominately in bohemian Hobart in the 1940’s and ’50's, The Eldershaw Chronicles draws on personal experience, reimagined and transformed through the lens of fiction.

Adapted from Stephen Edgar’s narrative verse novel, Eldershaw, a strong ensemble performs a myriad of colourful characters. The Eldershaw Chronicles is a haunting elegy imaginatively staged.

Stephen Edgar, was the recipient of the 2021 Prime Minister’s Award for Poetry.

“If he were a jazz musician, he would be the kind who, when playing after hours, leads all the others to pack up their instruments and listen.” Clive James.

This production has been supported by the Regional Arts Fund NSW.
